Reese, S.J. speaking out on the unfinished work of responding to the sexual abuse crisis--an excellent example of speaking truth to those in power. ________________________________________________________ 2012-05-08 Dear Friends of VOTF: One of the non-monetary obligations of the Diocese of Wilmington's bankruptcy settlement is to retain a Child Protection Consultant to evaluate and make public recommendations with respect to the various programs and policies of the Diocese of Wilmington adopted for the protection of children. To meet this obligation, the Diocese has appointed Sandy K. Wurtele, Ph.D., who has a national reputation for her studies and work in the area of childhood sexual abuse and its prevention. Dr. Wurtele has issued her report, "Best Practices in Safeguarding Children: Report on Diocese of Wilmington's For the Sake of God's Children."
